Emily Feld at Elephant Rock
On a surprisingly sunny morning (especially after all the rain I’d been chasing up the coast), I finally got to shoot with Emily Feld at Elephant Rock, just as the light broke through the thick cloud cover. Everything you see here was captured on 35mm film.
I’d first spoken to Emily about shooting nearly a year earlier, and like a lot of my projects, it took time to align. Between schedules, distance (800 km between us), and weather, I made the call to drive up in March and make it happen. I’m so glad we did — this one has remained one of my most shared galleries ever.
Wardrobe was all Emily’s own, aside from the towels (straight from the back of my car — I usually have about twenty), and a few props like Sun Bum’s Aloe Vera Cool Down for that perfect glossy skin look. We kept things simple but thoughtful — it makes all the difference.
Shot entirely on my Canon EOS 3, using the Canon 24–70mm f/2.8L II and Canon 70–200mm f/2.8L IS II lenses. I love that Canon’s film SLRs support modern glass — sharp, fast, and perfect for this kind of light.
