Chasing sunlight with Nick Bruinsma on the northern beaches
This shoot came together on a whim. I messaged Nicky Bruinsma from Icon Management the night before—on my birthday, no less—and by the next afternoon we were out chasing the light along the coast.
We started at Longreef and ended up racing to Palm Beach to catch the final sliver of sun. It was one of those sessions where everything just clicked. Shot entirely on 35mm film, with soft skies, warm tones, and the kind of relaxed energy that only comes from good vibes and trust.
The red bikini was from Color Swimwear, with the rest of the wardrobe styled from Nicky’s own pieces. We used my Canon EOS 3 with a 24–70mm lens, and added a bit of pop as the sun dipped using the Godox iM30 Mini Flash.
I’m constantly grateful to Georges Cameras for supporting my work—you can check out all the gear and film stocks I use right here.
This shoot isn’t part of any campaign or magazine—just a moment worth capturing, with someone I really enjoyed working with. Thank you Nicky for saying yes, for showing up with such ease, and for helping make this afternoon one I won’t forget.
