A Stormy Dusk with Kaye Gavlakova at Castle Rock Beach
Shot on 35mm film during one of those golden, fleeting evenings where everything feels like it could shift in an instant. A storm had passed through earlier that day, leaving the air heavy but clear, and the light we found at Castle Rock Beach was soft, fragile, and full of possibility.
Kaye Gavlakova, signed with Vivien’s Models, brought such grace and ease to this shoot. We styled three looks: a striped set and a blue bikini from Horse and Berries, and a sleek black set from Sommer Swim. The rest of the wardrobe was her own — understated pieces that worked perfectly with the textures of rock and sea.
Because the sun dipped quickly, we decided to take a few risks and shoot with flash as well — blending natural light with the punch of the new Godox iM30. It’s a compact but incredibly reliable little unit, and it let us stretch the shoot just a little longer into twilight.
As always, everything was captured on 35mm film. If you’re curious about the gear or film stocks I use, you can explore my full setup via Georges Cameras.
