Shot at Long Reef on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, this issue came together on a warm, breezy afternoon with the kind of light that feels like summer’s edge. Maki had recently returned from living in Arizona, missing the beaches of California, and this shoot was our way of bringing that energy home. Captured on both 35mm film and digital, the session flows from open sand to rocky headlands, full of relaxed movement and golden calm.

It’s been almost a year since we last shot together, but the connection picked up instantly. Maki moved through the space with confidence and ease, bringing something thoughtful and quietly magnetic to every frame. This is one of the longest issues to date, and one of the most textured—full of soft light, natural tones, and the kind of rhythm that only comes when you’re truly present.
