ONLINE with Lani Robyn Brown
This magazine with Lani Robyn Brown is 169 pages long, including the cover and thank-you notes. It’s in A4 format, available as a digital download, and shot entirely on film.
Lani and I shot this issue in Manly, in the middle of winter, even though the final issue has this warm, almost tropical feeling to it. We worked around the weather, made the most of the light, and kept the whole thing relaxed.
I have been working with Lani for years now. Last year she invited me up to the Whitsundays, where we shot the Rusty campaign together. She was incredible on that shoot, but she was not quite ready to do ONLINE yet.
So I waited.
I am really glad I did.
I have watched Lani come into her own over the last few years, and this felt like the right time to finally make an issue together. She is a pro, she knows how to move, she understands the camera, and she brought such a calm confidence to the shoot.
After shooting in Manly, we headed back to my place for pizza before wrapping the day. That part felt right too. Not overproduced, not rushed, just a shoot with someone I trust and have wanted to create this kind of work with for a long time.
This issue is built around winter light, warmth, trust, movement, and the feeling of finally making the right issue at the right time.
This issue reflects so much of what I want ONLINE to stand for: trust, presence, and creating work that feels real.
You can find Lani at @lanirobynbrown.
You can also get each issue at a discount via my Patreon, where your support helps me continue creating these shoots, funding travel, film, and time. I’m grateful to everyone who has followed this project, and I hope you enjoy the work as much as I enjoyed making it.
The price is listed in AUD, equivalent to approximately $22 USD.
